The decision to purchase a hybrid vehicle boldly states that you are ready to start cleaning up your act in a carbon smiting economy. You shouldn’t be surprised about the sizable price tags on these relatively new and trendy vehicles. It may already be apparent that “going green” in many aspects requires a considerable amount of green from your bank account.

There are only a few factors to consider when purchasing a hybrid vehicle over a standard and not so environmentally friendly counterpart. If these vehicles are so much better for the environment then why aren’t they standard among the vehicle industry? Take note that purchasing a vehicle to clean up emissions isn’t necessarily the same thing as purchasing a more fuel efficient vehicle that can provide investment return. More expensive vehicles are expected to have more power, more space, and more luxury; perhaps a combination of all three.

However, spending more on a hybrid vehicle doesn’t get you more fuel economy. Dumping loads of cash into a fully accommodated hybrid vehicle doesn’t get your more MPG but instead more bells and whistles. Ford, Honda, and Toyota, are the leaders in producing <a href="http://usedhybridcarsonline.com/cheap-hybrid-cars/"title="" >cheap hybrid cars that reduce emissions and use less gas. Hybrid vehicles currently come standard with a moderately heavier price tag than their non-hybrid counterparts. It is important to remember that the considerably large price tag should be considered an investment. Take into consideration how much money you spend each year on fuel. Will obtaining a hybrid vehicle with higher MPG reduce your yearly fuel costs therefore giving you a return on your investment? If so, are you willing to sacrifice luxury, horsepower, and space to purchase an inexpensive hybrid model?

There certainly are <a href="http://usedhybridcarsonline.com/eco-friendly-cars/"title="" >eco friendly cars with the aforementioned accommodations but if you are trying to save and earn money from your investment, these luxury hybrids simply do not provide the same fuel economy that the mini hybrids boast. For example, the boxy little Toyota Prius offers a combined city/highway 50 MPG while the Lexus LS 600h (which costs more than $100,000) can only grasp 20 MPG. The expensive luxury brand hybrids only reduce emissions certainly not lower fuel costs. Inexpensive compact hybrids like the Toyota Prius, an award winning super MPG model, offer exceedingly high highway and city MPG and a likeable package. Toyota has been offering great fuel efficient cars at moderately low prices since the introduction of the Corolla in the late seventies. Now Toyota continues to lead the numbers game in cost, fuel efficiency, and safety.

The Ford Fusion has considerably less fuel efficiency but can run on ethanol/gas mixtures and is manufactured largely from recycled materials. Honda also makes a couple of notable hybrids in the lower price range but often drivers complain about their inability to perform on the road. Perhaps the market will see less costly vehicles with increased performance and accommodation. There may be a bright future for electric cars but currently they don’t provide enough power, require extensive charging, and expensive maintenance.

Solar power, for instance, requires an initial investment but may potentially prompt the power company to send you a monthly check. An inexpensive hybrid car must be able to pay you back while at the same time keeping the environment cleaner. If you desire more immediate feedback then plan on purchasing a car like the Prius which can save you hundreds of dollars on your gas bill each year. But you may also find a compromising hybrid vehicle that offers more room and speed with slightly less efficiency. Remember, more money doesn’t buy you more MPG but asserting competition among automakers will help revolutionize the industry.

The term American made is becoming harder to distinguish nowadays, but most people when they use it are referring to the major American based car companies: Ford, GM, and Chrysler. One of the companies had simply refused to engage in the hybrid market, because it wasn’t cost feasible, and the other two were late to the game, but all of them are quickly taking steps to catch up to the Japanese competition. When hybrid cars were first introduced, many considered them to be gimmicky and unrealistic, similar to how the first electric cars were received, and this thinking might have kept <a href="http://usedhybridcarsonline.com/american-hybrid-cars/"title="" >American hybrid cars from getting serious consideration.

Ford’s original stance when it came to the hybrid vehicle was to aim at one thing Americans truly love: the SUV. One of their first models was a hybrid SUV; the company is still adding more hybrids to their production line. Although, their approach to selling their hybrids was much more conservative than the Japanese, they are starting to turn a profit, which will allow them to continue to expand their hybrid offerings and keep them competitive with foreign car companies.

General Motors chose to originally ignore the hybrid craze, because they didn’t feel it was a worthwhile investment at the time, but have since done a complete turnaround, because of the success of foreign hybrid cars. The first GM attempts were met with negative reactions due to such a mild introduction of hybrid technology. They vehicles only used an electric engine to help the gasoline engine and while they offered a small improvement to gas mileage, the increase in cost was not worth the benefit; they have since switched to developing competitive hybrid engines and have introduced them all across their production line. The biggest benefits come in the SUV and Truck department.

Chrysler never gave hybrids the consideration they were due and after spending a lot of money to develop a hybrid engine, they found there wasn’t enough interest to continue and had for the most part stayed out of the hybrid market, until recently. They have come forth with plans on developing hybrid vehicles, but nothing is concrete as plans continue to be canceled and re-opened.

Choosing to buy American made hybrid cars is a good way to combine the benefits of going green and the pride of the USA. While Toyota is currently dominating the hybrid market and will continue to do so for a few years, American companies are working hard to catch up and produce products that are better options to foreign choices. Whether you go with higher fuel efficiency or more power, you need to evaluate your requirements and go with the car that best suits your lifestyle.

If you are thinking about used hybrid cars, you may be hearing quite a bit of “talk.” Some people think the hybrid car is the best thing on the market. Some people say it’ll just pass. Other people say they think they can save a lot of money, but you’re not sure it’s really worth it. What’s the truth, and how do you separate myth from fact with all of the stuff that is being thrown at you?

Below, you can read and understand the common hybrid car myths.

Hybrid cars are the same as electric cars

This is not true because hybrid cars are fuel-powered for the most part. They have what are called battery assists. The assist is powered by a nickel-metal hydride battery pack that is rechargeable.

You are guaranteed to save money with a hybrid car

If you are doing city driving, you may save gas and you may not. The same goes for highway driving. There are just many different factors. It has been said that if everyone bought hybrid cars, the gas consumption would decrease by only 10%. That’s not a very big difference.

A hybrid cars battery can run out

A hybrid car’s battery should not run out while you are driving it. The engine in a hybrid car does not idle when stopped (at a red light for instance.) What does it do instead? It recharges its battery. So there’s no need to worry about a hybrid car stopping you.

The hybrid cars rechargeable battery only lasts for 2 years

A hybrid car certainly would not be worth purchasing if this was the case. A hybrid car’s rechargeable batteries usually come with an eight-year warranty.

If I run out of gas, I can keep driving on the hybrid car battery

Keep in mind, a hybrid car’s battery is an assist. That means that hybrid car’s still run on fuel. After you run out of gas, the battery may keep the car running for just a little while. However, the car will stop very soon.

Hybrid cars will soon put conventional car sellers out of business

This probably won’t happen anytime soon. The reason for the delay has to do with the how much a hybrid cars. Many people simply can’t afford one. Also, people just aren’t too sure whether they will really save money on hybrid cars. Therefore, they are slow to join the rush of people who want a hybrid car.

Hybrid cars will only save you about 88 dollars a year

I did hear something on the news about this once, but it may not be true. If there’s something you really want though, and there’s a lot of smoke surrounding it, you simply have to start digging and do some of your own research.

There are many different models of hybrid cars, and many different manufacturers make them. This means that there may be many more variables involved than the ones discussed here. You can even try buying a used hybrid through a cash for clunker program.
