The term American made is becoming harder to distinguish nowadays, but most people when they use it are referring to the major American based car companies: Ford, GM, and Chrysler. One of the companies had simply refused to engage in the hybrid market, because it wasn’t cost feasible, and the other two were late to the game, but all of them are quickly taking steps to catch up to the Japanese competition. When hybrid cars were first introduced, many considered them to be gimmicky and unrealistic, similar to how the first electric cars were received, and this thinking might have kept <a href="http://usedhybridcarsonline.com/american-hybrid-cars/"title="" >American hybrid cars from getting serious consideration.

Ford’s original stance when it came to the hybrid vehicle was to aim at one thing Americans truly love: the SUV. One of their first models was a hybrid SUV; the company is still adding more hybrids to their production line. Although, their approach to selling their hybrids was much more conservative than the Japanese, they are starting to turn a profit, which will allow them to continue to expand their hybrid offerings and keep them competitive with foreign car companies.

General Motors chose to originally ignore the hybrid craze, because they didn’t feel it was a worthwhile investment at the time, but have since done a complete turnaround, because of the success of foreign hybrid cars. The first GM attempts were met with negative reactions due to such a mild introduction of hybrid technology. They vehicles only used an electric engine to help the gasoline engine and while they offered a small improvement to gas mileage, the increase in cost was not worth the benefit; they have since switched to developing competitive hybrid engines and have introduced them all across their production line. The biggest benefits come in the SUV and Truck department.

Chrysler never gave hybrids the consideration they were due and after spending a lot of money to develop a hybrid engine, they found there wasn’t enough interest to continue and had for the most part stayed out of the hybrid market, until recently. They have come forth with plans on developing hybrid vehicles, but nothing is concrete as plans continue to be canceled and re-opened.

Choosing to buy American made hybrid cars is a good way to combine the benefits of going green and the pride of the USA. While Toyota is currently dominating the hybrid market and will continue to do so for a few years, American companies are working hard to catch up and produce products that are better options to foreign choices. Whether you go with higher fuel efficiency or more power, you need to evaluate your requirements and go with the car that best suits your lifestyle.

<a href="http://usedhybridcarsonline.com/eco-friendly-cars/"title="" >Eco friendly cars, despite the primary concerns of demographics and pricing issues, have seemed to form a niche in the American auto industry. Cars such as the first generation Honda Insight (2000-2006) and the first generation Toyota Prius (1997-2001) were the pioneers of the hybrid movement, with millions of people finally viewing such cars with interest and appreciation. Demographics were an initial concern but that has changed in recent years.

Fuel economy became a concern for SUVs after a time period of where bulky and heavy people movers were bought without a thought of what it would cost the Earth in the future. After the ending of the heavy SUV trend, a new issue of how to save money emerged. Partially due to the economic recession, car companies of all kinds have either partnered up to work on future models (Chrysler/Fiat/Mercedes-Benz) or have deleted some of their own brands in the hopes of rebuilding itself (GM). Ford’s EcoBoost technology promises to deliver the power of a V8 with the fuel efficiency of a V6. Cars equipped with the engine option have been limited to the Ford Flex but the technology will be introduced in the Explorer, Fusion and F-150.

Another company that has taken the reigns of the eco-friendly movement is Volkswagen, a company already known for its diesel powered automobiles. The company has taken steps to improve its efficiency by designing smaller engines (used with sister companies Audi and Porsche) and using lighter structural designs to decrease weight and increase efficiency. Results of the changes have been seen in the newly redesigned Porsche Cayenne and Audi A4.

Both cars have been redesigned using a lighter structure, the Porsche using different engines to improve the first generations downfall. Audi has increased the fuel efficiency of the A4 by using a more rigid design and by using a more aerodynamic body. Increases in coefficient drag (Cd) result in the vehicle using less power to “glide” through the air, allowing the driver to use keep a constant speed (or less) to improve their car’s mileage.

Although the car industry has been hit in the last decade, the downturn has only inspired new ideas. With the introduction of EV’s (electric vehicles) such as the Chevy Volt and Mini Cooper E, drivers will have even more options to choose from. In the next decade, increases in North America’s EPA fuel economy standards and the introduction of the European Union’s Euro 5 standards, it will be interesting to see how customers and companies respond to the ever changing conditions of the automobile industry.

When buying <a href="http://usedhybridcarsonline.com/"title="" >used hybrid cars you must approach it like you would when buying any used vehicle. Do you know what Hybrid car you like? There are many on the market now.

There are Hybrid cars and SUV’s. Ford Escape Hybrid is a nicely compact SUV, that has quite a big interior. The Chevy Malibu Hybrid is a nice sized sedan that is becoming quite popular. Honda Accord Hybrid’s and Toyota Camry Hybrid’s are very popular too. Once you decide what make and model of used hybrid you might be interested, do your homework, go onto Kelley Blue Book or Edmunds websites to see the value and ratings for the vehicle or vehicle’s you are interested in. Also find out about fuel efficiency, battery life, replacement battery cost and customer reviews.

There are a few key things you really need to find out when looking at a car in person. First you need to do a visual inspection look for signs of excessive wear or damage, both inside and out. Secondly you need to know the mileage. Determine if the amount of miles is high or low depending on the model year of the vehicle. If a Hybrid car or any car for that matter, has a terribly high amount of miles and is fairly new, walk away.

There are plenty of <a href="http://usedhybridcarsonline.com/hybrid-vans/"title="" >Hybrid vans and cars on the market now, that have lower more acceptable miles. Don’t be pushed into buying a vehicle that you haven’t thoroughly checked over. You must to find out if the car is still under warranty and if so, if it’s a transferable warranty. Find out if the warranty covers anything pertaining to the battery pack. This is where people often end up losing money. Battery packs are extremely expensive.

Once you think you have found the car you want, have an independent mechanic do an inspection on the vehicle. It is important to know the condition of the transmission, the brakes, the tires, the entire running gear, among other critical information. If the car checks out with the mechanic, this is where that previous homework is valuable. With the information obtained by learning about the value of the car you are interested in from Kelley Blue Book or Edmunds, you are armed with knowledge so that you can get the best deal available.

One thing car dealerships and sales people don’t like is to have a customer know more about the vehicle than they do. You can haggle the price, don’t take the first offer they give you. All of these same rules apply when you are buying a used Hybrid from a private party, also.

So far as new cars go, I’m fairly confident in my belief that hybrid technology is the future. That being said, I was absolutely delighted when my brother took the initiative to check out <a href="http://usedhybridcarsonline.com/"title="" >used hybrid cars.

After weeks of shopping around for the best used model, he finally came cross the 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid. At this point in time (a year or so ago) I was living with my brother due to my being laid off, so I can say quite confidently that I’ve spent more than a few dozen hours driving the 2008 Escape Hybrid. To start off, he picked it up for a reasonably low price. I believe the amount was in and around 19,000 dollars; much less than he might have had to drop had he bought himself a newer model.

The price, although fairly impressive in itself, proved to only be the tip of the iceberg so far as the 2008 Ford Escape’s many desirable features went. For one, the 2008 Escape is a fairly bulky car. Call me crazy, but there’s nothing I love more than a hybrid car that doesn’t particularly look like one. It has a sort of SUV aesthetic about it, which I found highly appealing.

The 2008 Escape’s more substantial size, however, didn’t’ seem to detract from it’s impressive gas mileage. A few months after my brother picked his up, we took a road trip across most of America to meet up with family, and we calculated the average mileage to be 8 litres for every 100 kilometers; a number which I found quite remarkable.

Aside from a stronger appearance paired with great fuel efficiency, the 2008 Ford Escape is oodles of fun to drive. I mean, it makes a 16 day road trip about as fun as it can possibly be. We found that the car, being a hybrid, was extremely silent, allowing me to sleep while inside without be roused by engine noises. The power steering worked astoundingly well, also, making it easy for even the most sleep-deprived siblings to stay on the road. The power switching was almost unnoticeable, and charging up the battery was also a breeze.

Although I’m glad to say that I’ve long since moved into my own place and gotten my own vehicle, I do miss my brief experience with the 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid. It was efficient, attractive, and inexpensive. I’d definitely recommend one to anyone looking to pick up an older used hybrid.

Hybrid cars and trucks are starting to roll off the assembly line at an unbelievable rate now that the big three automakers of America are realizing their mistakes of the past thirty plus years. They should have been working on alternative fuel efficient vehicles before they came close to bankruptcy in the latter part of 2008. A lot of people are looking into used hybrid cars as a way to purchase one less inexpensively.

What else would one expect though from an industry that has made millions and experienced the popularity of the SUVs and the pickup trucks. Why design <a href="http://usedhybridcarsonline.com/eco-friendly-cars/"title="" >eco friendly cars that runs on a different power source when the ones that they are building are selling like hotcakes?

It’s now time for the big three to start rolling out the hybrid vehicles. These vehicles are going to increase the fuel efficiency of the same models by about 40%. I’m sure they can do a lot better than that, but its a start. Which is something that’s been overdue for many years.

General Motors and Ford have been saying that they have the hybrid vehicles available in the same popular models that everyone has been buying for the last few years.

The question is though, Is this a little too late? The economy has taken a beaten in the last year and who really knows how long we’ll be in this situation. Hybrid vehicles cost more than the conventional models, but compared to how much you’ll save over the years on gas, it well worth it. Unfortunately people may not have the means to buy a new vehicle for some time and who knows if the American automakers can make it until the economy turns around.

Another question to ask is if no one is buying the hybrid vehicles over the next two years, are they going to think that no one wants them or are they going to think that it’s the condition of the economy. Will they stop making them because of the lack of sales?

We’ll just have to wait and see, but if you are going to buy a used vehicle, you might want to look at these used hybrid models.

In 2000 the first Hybrid rolled off the assembly line and since then the sales of these vehicles have been selling like crazy. Even today they still sell quite well and the used hybrid cars that are for sale have been doing the same thing. The resale value have held up just as the conventional cars if not better, but what’s to come of these vehicles in the future?

For decades the United States wanted a more fuel efficient. The price a gas as gone up to unbelievable levels in 2008 and I’m sure even with the price coming back down, it won’t stay there for long. You would think that with the fuel economy issues at hand, the future of the new and <a href="http://usedhybridcarsonline.com/"title="" >used hybrid cars would be safe. We will have to see.

It’s being speculated that <a href="http://usedhybridcarsonline.com/eco-friendly-cars/"title="" >eco friendly cars will outpace sales of other cars, including pick-ups, SUV’s, luxury models because of the fuel efficiency. Many of bosses of the automakers are making dreams of accomplishing this within five years. Opponents believe that it’s impossible to see that far ahead with the uncertainty of the price of oil. We also don’t even know if the big three in Detroit will be around in five years.

With all the uncertainty and without stable numbers, it’s difficult to successfully predict ho many hybrids will be sold in the future. The American people do like their SUV’s, and luxury cars that it may be hard for them to give them up so easily.

It’s also hard to predict the economy in the future. Hybrid cars are expensive and if the economy takes a bigger downturn than it has already, people may not be able to get the good paying jobs to afford a hybrid.
Then, yes, if the economy goes down, car bosses will definitely have put their foot in their mouths when it comes to hybrid cars.

What are your plans that may affect the future of hybrid cars? Are you going to buy new of <a href="http://usedhybridcarsonline.com/used-hybrid-car/"title="" >used hybrid cars?

Are you looking to save money on buying a used vehicle? Well, who isn’t. Not only do you want to save money, but you also don’t want to get a vehicle that’s going to get bad mileage. When you buy a used car, the mileage per gallon isn’t what it used to be when it first came of the showroom floor. Ever thought about buying used hybrid cars? Are you opposed to the idea? If you’re not, then maybe these are the types of used cars you should be looking at.

<a href="http://usedhybridcarsonline.com/"title="" >Used hybrid cars are out there to be purchased. If you look on the internet, you will see many different types of hybrids for sale on the owner. I know quite a few of you might not be comfortable with the idea of buying a vehicle from a stranger who listed the car in the newspaper or on the internet, but if you do your research on the vehicle as well as checking out it’s history on carfax on some other type of website like it. You shouldn’t have a problem with it.

Buying a hybrid car just might be the thing for you and your family. If you do a lot of running around with all the kids activities and errands that need to be done, having a fuel efficient vehicle will keep the cost down in filling the tank. I know with all the weekly running around I do for the kids and other things, I can go through a tank full in one week.

The hybrids get anywhere from thirty miles per gallon and up (some get well into the 40MPG range). You can save a lot of money with that kind of mileage.

The <a href="http://usedhybridcarsonline.com/used-hybrid-car/"title="" >used hybrid cars won’t cost you has much as the newer ones, but the fuel efficiency is just the same as them. So why go out a buy a new hybrid whn you can save a ton of money by buying one of the many used hybrid cars.
