The decision to purchase a hybrid vehicle boldly states that you are ready to start cleaning up your act in a carbon smiting economy. You shouldn’t be surprised about the sizable price tags on these relatively new and trendy vehicles. It may already be apparent that “going green” in many aspects requires a considerable amount of green from your bank account.

There are only a few factors to consider when purchasing a hybrid vehicle over a standard and not so environmentally friendly counterpart. If these vehicles are so much better for the environment then why aren’t they standard among the vehicle industry? Take note that purchasing a vehicle to clean up emissions isn’t necessarily the same thing as purchasing a more fuel efficient vehicle that can provide investment return. More expensive vehicles are expected to have more power, more space, and more luxury; perhaps a combination of all three.

However, spending more on a hybrid vehicle doesn’t get you more fuel economy. Dumping loads of cash into a fully accommodated hybrid vehicle doesn’t get your more MPG but instead more bells and whistles. Ford, Honda, and Toyota, are the leaders in producing <a href="http://usedhybridcarsonline.com/cheap-hybrid-cars/"title="" >cheap hybrid cars that reduce emissions and use less gas. Hybrid vehicles currently come standard with a moderately heavier price tag than their non-hybrid counterparts. It is important to remember that the considerably large price tag should be considered an investment. Take into consideration how much money you spend each year on fuel. Will obtaining a hybrid vehicle with higher MPG reduce your yearly fuel costs therefore giving you a return on your investment? If so, are you willing to sacrifice luxury, horsepower, and space to purchase an inexpensive hybrid model?

There certainly are <a href="http://usedhybridcarsonline.com/eco-friendly-cars/"title="" >eco friendly cars with the aforementioned accommodations but if you are trying to save and earn money from your investment, these luxury hybrids simply do not provide the same fuel economy that the mini hybrids boast. For example, the boxy little Toyota Prius offers a combined city/highway 50 MPG while the Lexus LS 600h (which costs more than $100,000) can only grasp 20 MPG. The expensive luxury brand hybrids only reduce emissions certainly not lower fuel costs. Inexpensive compact hybrids like the Toyota Prius, an award winning super MPG model, offer exceedingly high highway and city MPG and a likeable package. Toyota has been offering great fuel efficient cars at moderately low prices since the introduction of the Corolla in the late seventies. Now Toyota continues to lead the numbers game in cost, fuel efficiency, and safety.

The Ford Fusion has considerably less fuel efficiency but can run on ethanol/gas mixtures and is manufactured largely from recycled materials. Honda also makes a couple of notable hybrids in the lower price range but often drivers complain about their inability to perform on the road. Perhaps the market will see less costly vehicles with increased performance and accommodation. There may be a bright future for electric cars but currently they don’t provide enough power, require extensive charging, and expensive maintenance.

Solar power, for instance, requires an initial investment but may potentially prompt the power company to send you a monthly check. An inexpensive hybrid car must be able to pay you back while at the same time keeping the environment cleaner. If you desire more immediate feedback then plan on purchasing a car like the Prius which can save you hundreds of dollars on your gas bill each year. But you may also find a compromising hybrid vehicle that offers more room and speed with slightly less efficiency. Remember, more money doesn’t buy you more MPG but asserting competition among automakers will help revolutionize the industry.

We hear about hybrid cars every time the price of gasoline or oil spikes, or when the difficulty of finding enough oil to support all the people who want to drive makes the headlines. Over the last few years, though, this segment of the market – once teensy – has been growing. Among new car sales, hybrids will make have a three percent market share in 2010.

While one manufacturer gained a lot of publicity for bringing out first one then a line of hybrid cars, there are now hybrids on sale from Honda, Ford, VW, Mazda, Chevy, Kia, BMW, Nissan, Mercedes, Suzuki, Hyundai, and others – as well as Toyota. There’s an equal amount of variety in models: small cars, mid-sized sedans, vans, SUVs, pick-up trucks, luxury cars: all come in hybrid models. Most people in the market for a vehicle can find a hybrid to suit their needs. There’s one part of buying a hybrid that most consumers overlook: the possibility of buying a <a href="http://usedhybridcarsonline.com/used-hybrid-car/"title="" >used hybrid car.

Because they are so new to the market, relatively speaking, many people think they have to go to the dealership and pay the price for a new hybrid car. But that is not so. Some hybrid owners, just like the owners of gasoline-only cars, like to turn over their car every year or two for a newer model. This puts high-quality hybrids with low mileage into the marketplace – and brings them within the price range of many thrifty people. In considering the purchase of a used hybrid car, use the same approach you would for any hybrid car.

Do your homework about the particular hybrid technology of the car you are considering buying. Look online for reviews or reports – positive and negative – about the vehicle. If possible, either buy from a dealership’s used car department or verify that the car was thoroughly checked by a mechanic who is familiar with that line of hybrid cars. Some people fear that a used hybrid will have batteries that are depleted or will wear out. Some hybrids have warranties on the batteries of ten years or more – so you can use the car for years while the batteries are still under warranty. Don’t let this myth hold you back from your purchase of a used hybrid car: it is bogus.

Because of the great diversity of hybrid cars, start your shopping on the internet, where you can explore the styles and the specifications of several manufacturers’ cars at once. Then check out the makes you like at a dealer’s used car lot, or watch the classified ads to see if your desired vehicle shows up. You may be able to save thousands of dollars off the sticker price, get the benefit of higher gas mileage, and contribute to the environment, all by considering a used hybrid car.

The term American made is becoming harder to distinguish nowadays, but most people when they use it are referring to the major American based car companies: Ford, GM, and Chrysler. One of the companies had simply refused to engage in the hybrid market, because it wasn’t cost feasible, and the other two were late to the game, but all of them are quickly taking steps to catch up to the Japanese competition. When hybrid cars were first introduced, many considered them to be gimmicky and unrealistic, similar to how the first electric cars were received, and this thinking might have kept <a href="http://usedhybridcarsonline.com/american-hybrid-cars/"title="" >American hybrid cars from getting serious consideration.

Ford’s original stance when it came to the hybrid vehicle was to aim at one thing Americans truly love: the SUV. One of their first models was a hybrid SUV; the company is still adding more hybrids to their production line. Although, their approach to selling their hybrids was much more conservative than the Japanese, they are starting to turn a profit, which will allow them to continue to expand their hybrid offerings and keep them competitive with foreign car companies.

General Motors chose to originally ignore the hybrid craze, because they didn’t feel it was a worthwhile investment at the time, but have since done a complete turnaround, because of the success of foreign hybrid cars. The first GM attempts were met with negative reactions due to such a mild introduction of hybrid technology. They vehicles only used an electric engine to help the gasoline engine and while they offered a small improvement to gas mileage, the increase in cost was not worth the benefit; they have since switched to developing competitive hybrid engines and have introduced them all across their production line. The biggest benefits come in the SUV and Truck department.

Chrysler never gave hybrids the consideration they were due and after spending a lot of money to develop a hybrid engine, they found there wasn’t enough interest to continue and had for the most part stayed out of the hybrid market, until recently. They have come forth with plans on developing hybrid vehicles, but nothing is concrete as plans continue to be canceled and re-opened.

Choosing to buy American made hybrid cars is a good way to combine the benefits of going green and the pride of the USA. While Toyota is currently dominating the hybrid market and will continue to do so for a few years, American companies are working hard to catch up and produce products that are better options to foreign choices. Whether you go with higher fuel efficiency or more power, you need to evaluate your requirements and go with the car that best suits your lifestyle.

You may have already begun considering buying a hybrid vehicle for a number of reasons. People consider buying these cars for two reasons. Because the hybrid vehicle is only partly operating on gasoline, it is considered to be good for the environment. Hybrid vehicles are considered to be the greenest vehicles available on the American auto market. Paying less for gasoline is another reason people choose to purchase hybrids. The cars run partially on some form of electricity.

Though this varies by make, generally the cars are plugged into outlets and a battery is charged which provides fuel for the car. Insurance for hybrid cars can sometimes be cheaper than it is for conventionally powered vehicles. Your greatest chance of getting a steep discount as the owner and driver of a hybrid vehicle exists if you belong to a certain demographic. As with driving sports cars, when you land in a certain demographic, your premiums are higher, when you drive a hybrid, you are very likely to have chances to save on your auto insurance. Those who are middle-aged with good driving records are pretty much guaranteed to get a 10% discount as long as they are willing to shop around and perhaps change providers in order to get that deal.

Because a lot of the people who drive hybrids are members of this demographic anyway, discounts for driving these “nature friendly” vehicles are pretty popular and your chances of pumping up that discount to 15 or 20% are not bad. Just be aware of what you are signing up for and be sure your benefits are sufficient. When searching for <a href="http://usedhybridcarsonline.com/hybrid-car-insurance/"title="" >hybrid car insurance for your vehicle, begin by sitting down with your current insurance salesperson and explaining to them that you would like to know about discounts given to drivers and owners of hybrid vehicles.

If your insurer does provide a discount, you should find out at that point. With a little investigating and a lot of patience, you’ll be able to find an insurer, either online or in a print ad, which provides considerable discounts for owners of hybrids. Once you’ve located an insurer, be sure to take a good look at the coverage you’re getting line for line. Make sure that the “discount” is not just a reduction in services and a coinciding reduction in the bottom line cost. After all, it’s not a bargain unless you are indeed getting more for less or paying less for what you already have.

When you start your search for <a href="http://usedhybridcarsonline.com/"title="" >used hybrid cars the best thing you can use is common sense, much like you would when looking to purchase a standard used vehicle. There are however some additional rules to follow in order to ensure that you get the best deal for your money.

The very first thing you should do is to run a vehicle report on the car you intend to purchase. This can be done by using a company like Car Fax which will provide you with information as to how many previous owners the vehicle has had and if it has been involved in any accidents. If at all possible, try to establish the reason why the current owner is selling the car. Make sure that you scrutinize any available paperwork on the car as it is vitally important that the vehicle’s maintenance schedule was followed correctly.

Most hybrid car manufacturers issue their vehicles with a Factory Certificate which is as good as a warranty but only if the car has been properly serviced and maintained by hybrid vehicle professionals. Merely taking the vehicle for a test-drive is not sufficient at all as hybrid cars do not display the normal tell-tale signs of trouble as a standard vehicle would. Inspection by a mechanic specializing in hybrid vehicles is of paramount importance. If you are buying the car from a dealership, make sure that you get a warranty with the purchase. Low mileage on a used hybrid vehicle is obviously better than the alternative, as it would generally mean that there is less wear and tear on the components of the vehicle.

It would also make it easier to sell in future if you have started off your ownership of the car with low miles on its clock. Hybrid batteries are extremely expensive but are covered by a warranty from the car manufacturer. Make sure that the vehicle you intend to purchase has a valid warranty on the battery. When deciding to purchase a used vehicle, many people opt for hybrid cars as they believe that they will be entitled to a tax credit. Used hybrid vehicles are not eligible for the hybrid car tax credit.

Please make sure that you understand that when budgeting for a vehicle. Even though hybrid vehicles have been on the market for a relatively short period of time (since 2000), there are already quite a few models on sale in the used car market. These include Alfa Romeo Hybrids, BMW Hybrids, Cadillac Hybrids, Lexus Hybrids and many more!

When shopping for <a href="http://usedhybridcarsonline.com/"title="" >used hybrid cars, there are a number of things which must be considered. Price, make, model, and the condition of the vehicle. Of course, these things are also involved in the selection of a regular used vehicle, however, these things take on a new twist when involved with the selection of a hybrid vehicle.

Things such as the consideration of wear and tear become far more prominent, due to hybrid vehicles being reliant on parts being in a proper functional condition for the sake of efficiency and proper operation. When selecting a hybrid vehicle by name, in previous years the Toyota Prius has been considered a leading hybrid vehicle, however, with recent recalls some doubt has been placed upon the Toyota brand.

Despite the recent recalls, the Prius is still an excellent vehicle, and can be kept road-safe if the used vehicle is purchased from a respectable used car dealership which has corrected the engineering flaws which include the gas pedal assembly, and the floor-mat catching issue. However, there is still speculation about the Prius’ on board electronics package being potentially flawed, yet these speculations have not been definitively proven in earlier models.

It is suggested that people shopping for a used Prius check with the dealership in regard to any advertisements or warnings for that specific year of the vehicle. With the tarnished state of the Prius, alternative brands of hybrid vehicle are highly recommended, brands such as the Ford Escape, and the Honda Insight It should be noted though that various brands of hybrid vehicles have different power train systems. Various systems include the parallel hybrid, which functions in tandem with the engine, the mild parallel hybrid, which uses a small motor for power delivery and for power generation and the power-split series-parallel hybid, which use varying ratios of power from an electric motor. There’s also the gasoline powered engine, series-hybrid vehicles use the electric motor and gasoline engine separately, and plug-in hybrids which require utility grid power to charge batteries prior to use for the purpose of powering an electric motor which is used until battery power is exhausted and the engine then kicks in.

Each of these various drive-trains function differently, and provide different benefits depending on the user’s driving habits. With each different type of drive-train, there are various technical things which should be checked over prior to the vehicle being purchased. However, several constants exist; checking the electric motor for wear, checking the gasoline engine for wear and efficiency, checking the power storage cells for ability to retain a charge, and ensuring that the electrical systems of the vehicle are in proper working order.

If all of these systems are in proper order, the vehicle should be a worthwhile purchase. When purchasing a used hybrid vehicle, it should be well remembered that a poorly designed or malfunctioning hybrid will take up just as much fuel as a conventional vehicle, and possibly cost more to operate. When making the purchase, be sure that the vehicle is certified by the used car dealership, and be sure not to purchase the used vehicle from an untrustworthy vendor, which could possibly sell a ‘lemon’ which will result in the wasting of funds on both the purchase, and the repair of a vehicle. When all things are accounted for, the hybrid vehicle still promises to be an excellent investment for drivers wanting to perform an ecologically friendly choice, and a financially sound choice as well.

If anyone is considering buying <a href="http://usedhybridcarsonline.com/"title="" >used hybrid cars they should think of a few things. These cars start run drive and handle differently then the conventional engine your used to.

My friend has a Toyota Prius and my first experiences in this car were interesting to say the least. First when he pressed “start” there was not any noise what so ever and we were in gear backing out of our parking space. He thought it was great however I did not like it so much. The other thing to consider is its tough to find a stylish Hybrid. Most of these cars were not designed to be sporty or elegant.

There are some exceptions however. The American Hybrids are very nice looking cars. They drive well to for that matter. Most people are unaware that you can get an Escalade or Tahoe Hybrid. In general I think it is a time to support American car companies. At this point not only are they better quality but if your buying new you may as well support the Manufactures in your country. Well except for FORD that is. Or Fraud as I call them. There are several things to be aware of when buying a used hybrid.

One is that this is not a tried and true technology. The Conventional engine has been around forever and you know what to expect on a high mileage car. Hybrids are probably going to bring a whole new plethora of problems when they reach one hundred and fifty thousand miles where as a conventional engine has already been there and done that. We know what to expect. Some things that seem simple may slip through the cracks by companies that pay more attention to profit rather then quality.

For instance look at the problem Toyota is having with the accelerator pedal. Look and practically everything FORD does. Sub par quality and a ridiculous price tags. I think we all can find some humility that the Toyota Prius is supposed to be so wonderful for the Environment yet the Battery is made with a type of Nickel that is extremely toxic. So much so that the plant that produces it has no living vegetative or animal life within a thirty mile radius. Here is my suggestion for buying a Hybrid or any Auto for that matter. Only buy Italian, German or General Motors engineering.

Prius stands for prize in most people’s book when they think about hybrid cars. And that’s not just because a Toyota Prius looks pretty. In terms of used hybrid cars, the Toyota Prius has tons to offer car consumers. And it’s not as if potential hybrid car buyers don’t know that. News of the Toyota Prius is everywhere in the media.

Why? Well first of all, the Toyota Prius is a great kind of hybrid car. The model I speak of is Toyota’s petrol and electric hybrid model. It’s sharp, stunning, and is a best seller among hybrid cars. This car is so good that it was voted car of the year in Europe for the year 2005. Furthermore, in the United States, the Toyota Prius got an award that was very comparable to the car of the year award given in Europe. It’s even better if you can find a Prius used hybrid.

But the Toyota Prius hybrid car isn’t selling off the lots because it is the fastest car around. Some Toyota Prius’s have some pretty high profile owners. Among them are Leonardo Dicaprio, Harrison Ford, and Susan Sarandon. With these people driving this particular hybrid car, off course it’s selling like a hotcake. And the stars are doing a world of good for the sales of hybrid cars in general.

But while the success of the Toyota Prius is good for Toyota, it isn’t so good for its competitors who have yet to manufacture a hybrid car. Now Nissan, GM and other popular car manufacturers are trying to quickly get their act together and come up with their version of the hybrid car.

Some of these other manufacturers just did not believe that people would put their faith in the hybrid car as a solution to the constant fluctuation of oil prices. But the number of sales for the Toyota Prius hybrid car has certainly caused a change of tune for competing car manufacturers. So soon you might here of a best-selling Nissan hybrid or GM hybrid. And Toyota Prius buyers shouldn’t get too comfortable with their car because before they know it, something else will come out that they would like to have.

But as far as Toyota goes, claims have been made that in the near future, all Toyota engines will come with hybrid options. And Toyota also believes that it’s only a matter of time before all cars are hybrid cars or at least have hybrid engine options.

Next year, Toyota should be making Prius’s in China, and there, sales are also expected to boom. Toyota doesn’t want to leave anyone behind. Soon it may expand its manufacturing plants to locations in places like California. Surely, there are plenty of movie stars there who can be persuaded to buy this hybrid car.

The Toyota Prius is certainly making a name for hybrid cars, and hopefully the buck won’t stop with the Prius. Toyota probably has some other models of hybrids cars that are fast making there way to having top sales as well.

It doesn’t matter if you’re going to buy new or a used hybrid cars, either way you should be aware of what’s actually under the hood. Some don’t give it much thought, but as a owner of a hybrid car, you should. Hybrid cars have battery-powered motors and it’s a good idea for you to get familiar with the hybrid car battery pack.

Here a some facts for you to look at in regards to the battery pack of new and <a href="http://usedhybridcarsonline.com/"title="" >used hybrid cars.

Let’s start off with the issue of the battery needing to be replaced. The battery packs of these cars do not need to be replaced. As a matter of fact the batteries are covered under the warranty for a time period that last between eight to ten years. If you want to know how long that is in mileage, the life span is 150,000 to 200,000 miles, but is expected to last longer than that.

Environmentalist have been making sure that the materials used in the batteries won’t harm the planet, so the vehicles use NiMH batteries. The NiMH batteries are fully recyclable, unlike the rechargeable nickel cadmium batteries.

The batteries of the hybrid cars have hundreds of cells. which usually means that there is a lot of complexity going on under the hood. Don’t worry, the warranty covers the battery, so there’s little to really worry about.

Research has shown that there have been a very low failure rate on the battery pack of these hybrids. Toyota has reported that some of the original Prius models have gone over 300,000 miles.

For those of you who watch the news reports that these batteries cost nearly $9,000 and say that it’s not worth the investment, I’m here to say that these batteries are built to last. If by the off chance the battery does fail, again it’s covered under the cars warranty. The Department of Energy looked into hybrid vehicles, but stopped its test when the capacity was “just like new” after 160,000 miles.

As time goes on and the technology evolves, the next generation of hybrid batteries will have more power, last longer and cost a whole lot less.

So when you start looking to buy <a href="http://usedhybridcarsonline.com/eco-friendly-cars/"title="" >eco friendly cars, take comfort to know that the batteries aren’t really an issue.

Over the last couple of decades we’ve been talking about hybrid vehicles and the issues that come along with them. Some think that the hybrids are the best thing for many different reasons, while others say that it’s really not worth it. There are a lot of used hybrid cars on the roads today and they de-bunk many of the myths that are being floated out there to discourage the advancement of these vehicles. With all the things that have been thrown at you, how do you separate truth from myth? We’ve listed many of the hybrid myths that are out there.

Myth #1
Hybrid cars are the same as electric cars

One has nothing to do with the other. Hybrid cars are fuel-powered for the most part. Hybrids have what is referred to as battery assisted. The assist is done with a nickel-metal batter pack that is rechargeable.

Myth #2
You are guaranteed to save money with a hybrid car
It doesn’t make a difference if you are doing city driving or you’re doing highway driving, you may or may not save gas. There are too many factors involved to really get a solid answer on that.

Myth #3
A hybrid cars battery can run out
The battery of a hybrid car does not run out while you’re driving it. Since the engine in a hybrid does not idle when stopped (for a red light or in heavy traffic). At those times the hybrid car recharges it’s battery. There is no need to worry about “running out”.

Myth #4
The hybrid cars rechargeable battery only lasts for 2 years
One of the most expensive part in a hybrid is the battery, so if that was the case, the hybrid car would not be worth purchasing. The Battery typically comes with a eight -ten year warranty.

Myth #5
If I run out of gas, I can keep driving on the hybrid car battery
As I stated in myth number one, the battery is an assist, which means the hybrid car still needs gas to run. If you do run out of gas, you might make it to the nearest gas station, but that’s about it.
